Mr. Keith is the founder of The Law Office of Richard K. Keith and has been practicing criminal defense since 1990. He is licensed to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Alabama. His sole focus of practice consists of representing clients during all stages of criminal prosecutions. Mr. Keith has provided competent and aggressive representation to a wide variety of clients across the State of Alabama.
Mr. Keith is the Past President and a current Board Member of the Federal Public Defenders Board of Directors and a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel, which is a group of carefully selected attorneys who represent indigent clients in Federal Court. He has been voted a Super Lawyer since 2009. He was also voted a Top Attorney in Alabama in 2013. Mr. Keith is a past president of Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (ACDLA) and Montgomery County Trial Lawyers Association. Over the years, Mr. Keith has received numerous merit and President awards for his service in ACDLA as well recognition from the Alabama Post-Conviction Relief Project for Rule 32 proceedings in Death Penalty cases. He is also a frequent lecturer on various criminal topics throughout the State of Alabama and has previously hosted “Legal Lines”, a television show concerning legal issues.
Mr. Keith received a Bachelor degree from the Virginia Military Institute in 1976, two Masters degrees from Auburn University and Auburn University of Montgomery as well as a law degree from Jones School of Law in 1990.
